Description: The beauty of the Greek mythological figure, Narcissus, son of Cephissus and the nymph Leiriope, caused many young women to fall in love with him, among them the nymph Echo. The young man, however, spent all his time contemplating his own beauty. While admiring his reflection in a pool, Narcissius fell into the water and drowned and on the spot grew the flower that bears his name.
